BeeGees star Robin meets Whitstable's Nicole at Downing Street
Inspirational Nicole celebrated her 20th birthday last Monday - and followed it up the next day with a trip to Downing Street.
She was there to pick up a Diana Award for her amazing bravery in adverse circumstances and her inspirational charity work.
Nicole, of St Mary's Grove, Seasalter, was hit by a spine tumour at 11 and has suffered a brain haemorrhage, Bell's Palsy, a stroke and is now blind and virtually deaf.
Despite this, she has raised £45,000 for charity and has just started on her latest project, to collect £50,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust.
The Diana Award, in memory of the late Princess Diana, recognises youngsters for their outstanding contribution to their communities.
Battling Nicole was once given just months to live. She met the Staying Alive singer at a No 11 Downing Street reception.
She said: "When we arrived at Downing Street we had some drinks downstairs with people including Robin Gibb and the Chancellor's wife Maggie Darling.
"She found out it was my birthday the day before, and my brother Lee's that day, so she made everyone sing Happy Birthday to us. Then we went upstairs for the award ceremony. A group of children were also presented with a Diana award, then I received mine.
"I gave a speech and was surprised with a lovely letter from Prince Harry. It was read out on stage and made the night even more special.
"He wrote to tell me he was so delighted that I was receiving a Diana award.
"The night was great and very exciting. Robin Gibb was really nice. He's just become the first celebrity ambassador for the Diana award."
