Advertising plans in Pembury refused

Sunday, October 05, 2008, 10:00

PLANS to install three advertising signs on a Pembury roundabout were refused because they would "endanger highway safety".

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council turned down the application to place three non-illuminated sponsorship signs at the top of the southbound slip road on Pembury Road because the size and siting could cause a distraction to drivers.

Applicant Marketing Force has lodged an appeal with the planning inspectorate.

The borough council also refused the application, which was originally lodged in June, because the signs would cause a "proliferation and clutter of signage".
