Full throttle for beach rally
NEARLY 100 riders are revving up for this weekend’s fourth full throttle Big Sky Beach Cross rally on Margate Main Sands.
Jumps and whoops are being created on the beach course for the adrenalin-charged competitors while a fairground and market stalls will flank the bay to add to the excitement.

Beach Cross takes place this weekend
In February 2008 a crowd of 15,000 watched quad and motor cross bikes battle it out in the bay and organisers, Margate Town Partnership and the Quad Racing Association, are hoping for even more this weekend.

Current British Quad Champion Paul Winrow, winner in February 08, still brushing sand off his Honda bike after finishing fifth at last weekend’s Le Touquet Beach race in France, heads the Margate line up.
Several riders are gunning for his QRA Margate crown. Paul Holmes, British Quad Supercross champion at the 02 Arena in London, plus stars of the motor cross sand Ricky Tordoff and Ben Richmond will provide tough competition.
In addition to the adult classes, riders such as Ameelie Miller and team mate Jak Griffiths, Conor Langton, Oliver Drabble, Luke Brown and Daniel Lewis are looking to lift the first youth title in the 200/250cc youth quads classes.
Among the stunts and battles to be seen, spectators can watch three class races each day with practice and qualifier races on Saturday morning.
Big Sky Beach Cross action begins at 10am on both Saturday and Sunday and continues throughout the day. It is free to watch.
