Time to show off your talent
Leave it out Lemar, step aside Alesha Dixon, chill out Coldplay, it is time for Thanet’s talent to take centre stage.
Last year’s Make Me A Star talent contest run by the Thanet Times and the Granville Theatre, Ramsgate, was such a success that once again we are giving you the opportunity to make your showbiz dreams come true.
Maybe like last year’s winner, Alex Hughes from Westgate, who immediately cut a CD after his win, it will be the start of a glittering showbiz career. Even taking part will give you real experience of the excitement of the entertainment business.
Ralph Hoult, contest compere and entertainments manager at the Granville Theatre said: "This time we’ll have one overall winner and trophies for three winners: those aged up to 18-years-old, contestants aged 18 to 59 and entrants of bus pass age and over. We’ll be announcing the fabulous prize in a few weeks.
"Last year’s entries were amazing. I was astounded at the quality of the performances. I’m a great fan of variety. I watch all the shows on TV. We have such a bank of outstanding talent in Thanet. A lot of our finalists would have been equally at home in TV’s X Factor they were so good."
Singers, variety acts, dancers, magicians, comedians, mime artists, bands, individuals or groups - anyone with an entertaining act can apply. Once again judges from the world of entertainment or media will mark the acts.
Ralph said: "Last year’s judges included X Factor’s Ben Mills, Rick Waller, Julie Forsyth, daughter of Bruce who runs her own entertainment company. But none of our judges takes the nasty Simon Cowell figure. They only give positive criticism and helpful advice."
