Crofts looking to revive Welsh career

ANDREW Crofts signed a two-year contract for Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday. And he'll be hoping it revives his international career with Wales.

The 25-year-old Chatham-born midfielder made 174 appearances for Gillingham, but played only seven times last season, was stripped of his captaincy and allowed out on loan to Peterborough and then Wrexham.

Quite where it all went wrong it still something of a mystery to him, but he refused to get drawn into criticising anyone at the club..

"I could say a lot about what happened, but I am not going to because it would be unprofessional," he said.

"I was and am still happy the club were promoted, but purely for the sake of the supporters."

While Crofts has moved on, Gills have signed two players of their own. Manager Mark Stimson brought 32-year-old midfielder Kevin Maher to the krbs Priestfield Stadium on a two-year deal earlier in the week, while the club yesterday announced winger Andy Barcham had also agreed to sign a two-year contract.
