Green light for Sevenoaks academy

THE KNOLE Academy will be built in September this year, following a landmark decision by the Government.

On Wednesday, the Secretary of State signed a Funding Agreement for the new school, following a public consultation last year.

The new mixed sex institution, to be sited at what it now the Wildernesse School, will see the closure of the single-sex Bradbourne and Wildernesse schools and the opening of an academy specialising in languages and the expressive arts.

Principal Designate Mary Boyle, appointed to the role in September last year, said she was delighted by the announcement.

She said: "This is a great opportunity for the young people and the wider community in Sevenoaks and the surrounding areas.

"This is what I have been working towards since my appointment."
