Bright rainbow of flowers chases winter blues away
Town Hill resident Peter Cosier said the flowers on the Green, which is a patch of grass bordering his road, were an asset to the town.
He said: "I tidied up the Green because I think the Green is a great asset to the town and should be more than a litter-covered strip of dirt."
Mr Cosier has planted 300 winter pansies in the order of the colours of the rainbow.
"I think we all need a rainbow right now," he said.
"Litter and graffiti create a massive feel-bad factor and cost millions. A few flowers cost very little and create a massive feel-good factor. It also makes the area look cared for and managed. People feel secure."
He added West Malling Parish Council had been very supportive and had met some of his costs.
Mr Cosier said he would be grateful if anyone would be able to spare some time to help maintain the flowerbeds, and added volunteers should contact West Malling Parish Council by emailing carole.wmpc@btconnect.com
