  • Have you noticed this fish motif on the EK Communications building in Red Lion Lane?
  • One of Whitstable's oldest buildings - currently Captain's House B & B in Harbour Street.
  • Flower power above Sundae Sundae in Harbour Street.
  • Frank gift shop in Harbour Street used to be Lawson's stores, supplying tea and brooms!
  • Harbour Buildings at the end of Harbour Street now houses a holiday home.
  • This handsome building, now home to Prezzo, used to be the Bear and Key pub.
  • Bank buildings are often worth a second look. This is Lloyds TSB in High Street.
  • The diving lady is indeed Taking the Plunge at the bottom of High Street.
  • The Tea and Times building in High Street is more than 100 years old.
  • There are several 'Kentish clapboard' style buildings still around.
  • Found at Home is a new High Street business, but the building is much older.
  • The Rendez-vous cafe building next door to Found at Home.
  • Woolley's Shoes in High Street is also Limen House.
  • Another imposing bank building - this is NatWest.
  • Twin gables above Card City and John Bishop estate agent's, High Street.
  • 1928 is the date of this premises, now housing R & J Moore opticians and the Barnardo's shop.
  • Len's Barbers also bears the exotic name of Nyassa Cottages
  • A mural above the Deco 5 bar in Oxford Street.

    “We may not have the medieval buildings of Faversham, but there is plenty to admire in Whitstable's main streets if you lift your eyes from the shop fronts. Worth a look upwards next time you're out and about - but take care on our narrow pavements. I caused a bit of trouble this morning when taking the photos!”
