Police appeal after Newington road rage attack
A pint glass was thrown from a gold Mini Cooper which smashed on the 23-year-old victim's car, a red Volkswagon Golf, between 2.30 and 3pm on Saturday.
When he flashed the Mini to pull over, a man jumped out, ran towards the Golf and kicked the passenger-side window, sending glass flying into the face of the man, who was with his girlfriend and young child.
The attacker was described as aged between 23 and 30, white, 5ft 8in, slim, with thick, dark hair. He wore a black t-shirt and off-white jeans.
PC Louise Batten said: "This was a particularly violent and mindless attack and the victim and his family are lucky to have only suffered minor injuries.
"It was a busy Saturday afternoon and I am really keen to hear from any other drivers and road users who may have seen the gold Mini in that area, and also anyone who may have witnessed the incident itself.
"A number of witnesses have come forward so far, but we believe there are still other drivers and pedestrians who may have useful information and I would urge them to get in contact, no matter how insignificant they think their information may be."
