While many are wondering how to make ends meet this Christmas, Sevenoaks district councillors are looking forward to tucking in to tasty treats like chicken and mushroom pate with red onion chutney, roast turkey with all the trimmings and chocolate brownie with Chantilly cream, washed down with fine wine.

It is hardly likely anyone will have room to spare after such a hearty meal, but coffee and mince pies are being laid on just in case.

Anyone concerned drink-driving laws may force revellers to stick the cork back in the champagne early need not worry. Taxis costing £400 will be laid on to ferry the party-people and their spouses home.
