Nudist bid for Botany Bay in Kingsgate

Friday, August 07, 2009, 16:37

BOTANY Bay could become bottom-y bay if plans to turn part of it into a nudist beach get the go ahead.

The British Naturism organisation wants Thanet council to clarify whether or not nudists can legally use an area of the bay.

The dunes to the north of Kingsgate beach are in a legal blind spot because although naturists do use it for sun bathing, it is not officially recognised as nudist beach.

If the proposals are agreed, signs could be put up warning non-naturists of what awaits them around the corner.

If councillors reject the plans, police could move in to discourage those who strip off at the site.

What do you think? Would you strip off at Botany Bay or do you think the whole idea is nuts?

See this week's Isle of Thanet Gazette for more reaction and details.
