We need to deal with the pressure
ALL in all it's been a good last week or so for us. We picked up a decent haul of points against Essex, although obviously were disappointed with the way the final day against Somerset turned out.
A good crowd turned out at Canterbury expecting a decent day of cricket and in the end it was a bit of a damp squib.
We were frustrated as much as anything as we were looking forward to a proper day's cricket that offered us the chance to win the match.
As far as we were concerned it didn't matter what kind of target they set us, we would have had a go because we had already earned some good bowling points.
It would have been a case of us expressing ourselves without any real pressure.
It was a shame that Somerset decided to play so negatively on the day. If they play the same way for the remainder of the season they will struggle to win the County Championship.
Unfortunately I picked up an injury in that game so could only watch the 40 over match at home to Leicester on Sunday.
It was a good performance on a wicket that certainly took the spin.
The boys did well to pull it back after a pretty explosive start from the Leicester batters and Bandara, van Jaarsveld and Tredwell all played their part with the ball.
We are now without a game until next Wednesday (August 18) when we have Lancashire at Canterbury.
They are a solid team, certainly as far as the four day game is concerned. They have a good bowling attack and obviously having Chanderpaul is a great bonus for them.
No doubt it will be a tough game, but we just have to go out and play with freedom and hope we get something from the game.
There are a few teams around us who have games in hand so it's a case of picking up as many points as possible in our four remaining Division One games, all of which will be massive.
In the end it could come down to who handles the pressure best.
I think the crunch game for us could be against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.
And of course we end the season against Yorkshire at Headingly. A lot could depend on the game for both sides, and for very different reasons.
