THERE'S no such thing as an easy ride for work experience candidates at the Chronicle.

First, would-be reporter Matt Savage tested shops' summer dress code by taking off his shirt as he perused the aisles. His story was picked up by our trade magazine the UK Press Gazette and he became an internet phenomonen.

Then we sent a 17-year-old out to Biggin Hill in an investigation to see if she could buy booze – and four out of six shops did not ask for identity. She ended up on the front page of our Westerham edition.

And this week, Emma Curry was dispatched to an accident in London Road, Sevenoaks, where an OAP had slipped on a zebra crossing.

Emma, who also works for care home Kippingtons, comforted the victim while waiting for the ambulance and summoned staff from his nearby Rockdale address to the scene.

COUNCILLOR Andrew Eyre is seemingly a big softy at heart. Speaking at a reception after the screening of Disney's Up in 3D at The Stag Theatre on Monday, Mr Eyre was full of praise for the film–- and for kids' favourite Toy Story 3D which the cinema screened two weeks earlier.

But, he added, he probably won't be popping in next week to see "hip-hop street dancing" film Step Up 3D, or the teen horror flick Piranha 3D later this month.

In his strong northern accent, he added: "Up and Toy Story are more my sort of thing."

HOT on the kitten heels of Right Said Fred, the Crown at Otford is set to host a gig by...ELO.

In their 70's heyday, the Electric Light Orchestra boasted a line-up of seven.

We wonder how the new-look line-up will squeeze in to the pub when they visit next year?
