An inspiring performance
A show which proved a smash hit at the Edinburgh Festival, and has also been broadcast on BBC Radio 4, is coming to the Gulbenkian at the end of the month.
In 2002 John Osborne won a competition on John Peel's Radio One show. His prize was a box of records, that took eight years to listen to.

The vinyl, piled four foot high and the collection included German heavy metal, as well as Royal Tux, Pere Ubu, and Los Sonambulos.
When he had finally pulled the last of them off his record player he was inspired to create a show based on them.
John Peel's Shed, which is also partly adapted from his debut novel Radio Head, is the result and his first solo stage performance.
A reviewer said of the popular show: "Those of us who grew up listening to John Peel will surely feel an affinity with Osborne, but so will the people who were too young or too old.
"John Peel may be the starting point, but from there our hero extends his theme to create a love letter to all kinds of radio and all kinds of music.
"As a performer Osbourne has a shy, diffident warmth and a disarming openness, He is not afraid to show his own feelings of loneliness and vulnerability and to admit when he has been a bit of an idiot"
"Peeking out from beneath his floppy mane with his shining blue eyes, he fills the room with a warmth and a feeling of shared experience. He exerts the same kind of hold over his audience as radio can for a lonely teenager."
John Peel's Shed takes place at the Gulbenkian in Canterbury on Tuesday, February 28 at 7.45pm. Tickets cost £10.50 or £8.50 for GulbCard holders.
