Ten fire engines called to blaze in Old High Street
TEN fire crews are currently in the Old High Street in Folkestone, fighting a blaze above a Christian bookshop.
The fire, in a flat above the Centre For Peace, started at about 11am and spread to number 38, causing tiles to fly off the roof and filling the road with smoke.
No one was injured but there is widespread damage to the property.
Coral Whitehouse, 70, who lives opposite the shop, said: "When I saw the flames, I thought: 'Time to go.' I grabbed what what's important to us, our family photographs and jewellery, and got out. There's a derelict building a couple of shops along and one spark would be enough to set it alight."
