A CURIOUS canine was rescued by fire crews after getting his head stuck in between some railings at Cowden's summer fete just before 4pm on Saturday.

Thankfully for the hound, which was part of a display team, fire officers were already on the scene and pulled the metal railings apart to save him.

Edenbridge fire station's watch manager Gary Milan said: "I don't know what it is about the Cowden fete. We were also attending there last year when a woman was bitten by a dog."

Event organiser Carolyn Childs said: "One of the hounds got a bit over eager but thankfully the fire engine was right next to it and they got him out quickly."

Mrs Childs said the event was a "fantastic success".
