“It seems that those making arrangements thought it would go ahead on the same basis as last year with a similar risk assessment. However, whoever makes this decision felt that the arrangements were insufficient re security so it was cancelled today. Surely this should have been submitted sooner so that any changes could have been considered, rather than clearly running out of time!! New Year is a once a year event isn't it?”

“We do not know what discussions have been taking place between the organisers and the 'elf & safety' people. Talks might have been going on for some considerable time. Perhaps they would like to come up on these pages and give their side?

“There was a report in the Thanet Gazette which outlined the reasons for cancelling. Yes a good idea - let us know directly how it happened, or perhaps how it didn't happen!”

“I don't think the organisers can be blamed if nothing about the event has changed over the last few years. They probably thought it was a formality. I wonder who within the 'establishment' knew the rules had changed but didn't tell anyone that it would affect?”
