“With Network Rail bosses announcing this week that they will give up their bonuses voluntarily, should all companies involved in providing essential public services have to show that they have met customer's expectations before awarding huge payouts?”
“When did this bonus culture creep up on us? What's wrong with being hired to do a job at an agreed rate? (as it used to be) It seems that today every argument reported in the papers is in regard to who should have what bonus. If a copper on the street arrests a certain number of criminals does he get a bonus or is that kept by for the senior officers sitting on their backsides and taking the credit for him having done a good job? The remuneration should be set when the applicant takes a job on and that's it!
