FREE summer events from sports to science experiments are attracting record numbers across the area.

Speaking from a make-and-paint workshop in Horton Kirby on Monday, In The Zone organiser Sophie Page said: "Up to last Friday we'd already had 1,200 children in two weeks. It's been really, really good.

"The biggest events have been at Edenbridge and Otford, where we had more than 150 children plus their parents show up."

Sevenoaks District Council has organised five weeks of fun, funded by Kent County Council and town and village parishes.

Tomorrow there will be circus skills at Dunton Green Recreation Ground and on Monday there is djembe drumming at Ide Hill Recreation Ground.

All events run from 11am to 3.30pm and are free for all.
