Youngsters get hands on the prize
AFTER several years of leaving empty-handed from the Kent Finals at Tonbridge Juddians, Sevenoaks U11 finally won the Plate.
The day started well with a convincing 7-0 victory over Cranbrook in the semis. Every one of the 17 man squad contributed to the victory, producing their best rugby of the season.
The final was against Beccehamians, who had beaten Westcombe Park in their semi. Again Sevenoaks played very assured rugby and took a two try lead in the first half, extending to a four try unanswered victory by the final whistle.
The squad: Tom Harris, Joe Hayward, Kamram Ampomah, Olly Green, Gabriel Bonner-Davies, Archie Johnstone, Edward Harris, Ewan Martin, Rocco Zanelli, Archie Crouch, Philip Saunes, Ollie Foggitt, Lucas Ireland, Charlie Corrigan, John Hogan, Marcus Burgham, Cameron Roberts.

Elsewhere, Oaks U8s came an excellent third of 40 teams from across Kent at the same tournament on Sunday. It was a case of what might have been as they could not get the rewards their play at times deserved. Leading 4-2 in the semi-final, the game seemed to be heading for a comfortable and deserved victory.
However, a combination of missed tags and outrageous bad luck meant a last gasp defeat. In the third/fourth playoff match, Oaks enjoyed their last game of tag before moving to full contact next season with a win against Bromley.
Squad and try scorers: Ben Sellors, Neil Hudson, Will Dinsmore, Kyle Heins (1), Jack Ludden (1), Max Fry (7), Zac Shirtcliff (1), Patrick Spice (1), Nathan Johnson, James Orpin.
