Windies legends line up for Eynsford clash
SOME of the biggest names from the world of cricket will descend on Eynsford this summer.
International legends such as Courtney Walsh, Desmond Haynes and Gordon Greenidge, as well as former England stars Dominic Cork and Phil DeFreitas are among those expected to line up for Lashings against Eynsford on July 7.
Organiser James Honey-Green is hoping for a crowd of 1,500 at the picturesque village ground.
"It's probably one of the biggest events we have ever had," he said. "It's slightly different to the Lord's final in 2005, but in terms of the appeal it will have to people not involved in the cricket club, this is going to be huge. These are some of the biggest names who have ever played cricket and they will be in Eynsford.

"I've spoken to Lashings and the majority of the 2012 squad is pencilled in for 2013. There will definitely be some big names on show."
As well as putting on a show, Honey-Green hopes the day of cricket will be a boost to Eynsford as a club, who have struggled since reaching the National Village Knock-Out final in 2005.
"We've been on a downward spiral since 2005," Honey-Green said. "We had a good couple of years after that, but then there has been a steady decline. But we won our league last year – back playing Kent County Village League cricket and I hope this will be a further catalyst.
"More than anything, I hope it will impress the colts that play for us & youngsters in the surrounding area. If we get this right, this match might become an annual event. These things don't just have to happen at Sevenoaks Vine or Dartford. Watching these guys, playing cricket at Eynsford, chasing leather around a proper village ground will be a sight to behold."
And with the Ashes coming to England this summer it is the perfect time to hold such a match.
"It's the Champions Trophy and the Ashes – it's a big, big summer of cricket," Honey-Green said. "We've even got Henry Blofeld booked in to do the commentary."
The match beings at 2.30pm, but gates open at 11.30am. There will be a family fun day as well as top class cricket on offer.
The day is in support of the Kent Air Ambulance.
Eynsford are also holding a corporate lunch, with the last few tables – £500 for a table of ten – still up for grabs.
