West Kingsdown – home to the busiet European motor racing circuit
Samantha Colyer
HOME to the busiest motor racing circuit in Europe and acres of peaceful woodland, West Kingsdown is a village of extremes.
Perched on the top on the North Downs, the village boasts Brands Hatch for the thrill seekers and an enchanting forest where you can seek refuge.
Church Woods is the most idyllic spot in the village, with a network of scenic footpaths for people to explore, which weave past ponds, perfect picnic spots and plenty of majestic and ancient trees. In the spring the woodland floor is carpeted with bluebells.
The area is a haven for birds, animals and insects, and the 11th century parish church, St Edmund King and Martyr, is tucked in among the trees.
As a stark contrast to this peaceful haven, you can live life in the fast lane in West Kingsdown, as it is home to one of the most iconic sporting venues.
Brands Hatch motor racing circuit keeps petrol heads happy in the village and beyond.
Thousands of motorsport fans flock to West Kingsdown each year to witness some of the biggest events on the racing calendar.
There are four churches in the village – St Edmund's, St Bernadette's Catholic Church, Kings Church and a Baptist church – and they often unite for special services and religious festivals.
An 18th century windmill graces the village's countryside, and features on the village sign along with St Edmund's Church.
The village is well equipped for its thousands of residents, with shops, a post office, school, library, recreation ground, churches and pubs.
