The amateur Welsh-born artist also donated his fee for speaking at the St David's Day annual lunch for the Canterbury Welsh Society to the cause.
He presented it to fellow Welshman Peter Williams who is chairman of the New Marlowe Theatre Development Trust.
Mr Williams, from Boughton, worked at TVS, too, as Controller of Factual Programmes before the station lost its ITV franchise to Meridian.
Ron said: "The New Marlowe Theatre is one of the most exciting developments in the city for many a year.
"It will not only bring a bigger and better theatrical experience to Canterbury but its economic impact will reach out into the whole of Kent.
"I am delighted the fundraising campaign is going so well. As a fellow Welshman, I wish Peter and his team every success."
With them was city councillor Ken Hando of Herne Bay who is chairman of the Society.
