Warrilow is delighted to get Davis
TONBRIDGE Angels boss Tommy Warrilow said the opportunity to sign Tom Davis was one he couldn't turn down.
The playmaker signed for Angels on Sunday evening and Warrilow thanked the board for making it happen. Budget cuts at the Longmead have been much publicised, but they have found the money to bring in the midfield star.
Davis has won promotion to the Conference Premier with four different clubs and Angels fans will be hoping that trend continues.
"If he can continue that trend I think that might just kill off the board," Warrilow joked. "Everyone knows we're light in midfield, but equally funds are very, very tight. We had a do on Sunday and I wanted to chat with Steve Churcher, Colin Fry and the guys. I wanted to ask them something and it was about Tom.

"The thing is I'd rather make the signing now. We could wait until six, seven or eight weeks into the season when we've got a bit of money in, but you're going to miss out on someone of Tom's calibre. The board agreed and I rang Tom and got him down."
Davis, 28, comes with a big pedigree and will be crucial in the first few weeks of the new season when Lee Browning is out suspended.
"We've got George (Purcell) and Tom in – two absolutely fantastic signings," Warrilow said. "They are players who have got a lot about them. Look at Tom. Look at his history. He's an England non-league international, has won promotion four times and broke the transfer record at Lewes. They are massive signings. I'm more than delighted."
Warrilow has set up a lucrative friendly with Crawley on July 11, 7.45pm at the Longmead.
"Hopefully we'll get a good crowd and being a Wednesday night there might not be as many games and a few people will come down and see a Division One side."
