JIM WARD is after a big response when Ramsgate go to Ashford tonight after a terrible performance in the 3-1 defeat at Leatherhead.

The boss was far from pleased with what he saw on Saturday, even accounting for a new-look defence that saw Ollie Gray tried out at right-back with new signing Luke Wheatley partnering Will Graham on his return from injury.

Ward said: “There’s no hiding the fact it was poor.

“We’ve got all this strength in midfield and, apart from maybe Andy Hadden, they all had an off-day.

“They’re man enough to know that and it’s not good enough. It’s got to be better than that.

“The three goals we let in were all down to mistakes as well.

“It’s a massive game for us at Ashford now. I’ve been experimenting with the team but at the same time everyone wants to win.

“Our fans pay good money to watch us and they deserve better.

“We haven’t won a game since the old king died.”
