I've had a bit of Christmassy fun driving around Whitstable in search of the wackiest Christmas lights - and Whitstable folk have come up trumps.

There are many more equally colourful and impressive displays than I've managed to capture successfully on camera. It's not been the easiest task, as my shutter speed is slower than the flashing of the lights and I've had many fuzzy results.

  1. The lights in Old Bridge Road which are synchronised to music.

  2. The splendiferous seasonal panorama in Chestfield Road.

I use a fairly ordinary hand-held digital camera, so the 16 shots I've uploaded to this site (in two batches: here and here) are the best of nearly 100 that I took.

Of the displays I've seen, that on the house in Old Bridge Road must be the most unusual. The owner (username imposter7) tells us on this website that they are the only lights in Kent to be synchronised to music!

Throughout June two people can have their teeth whitened for the offer price of £120.00.

Terms: Treatments must be taken at the same time.

If you want the full experience, tune your car radio to 107fm when you go and look. Or stay at home and follow this youtube link to enjoy them in comfort.

For sheer size of display, once again the garden on Chestfield Road near The Barn surely cannot be beaten. Imagine the time, not to mention the money, involved in amassing this panoramic extravaganza.

It's a display which drivers slow or even stop (if safe) in order to fully admire.

What a great way to brighten up these long dark nights....

“Thanks for this - I must say the display on Chestfield Road was the one which made me almost stop and have a closer look!”
