Upgrade to broadband could be Kevin's gift
FASTER broadband access the length and breadth of the county could be the lasting legacy of Kent county councillor Kevin Lynes.
That is the aim of council leader Paul Carter, who is set to drive the project to increase internet speeds forward with renewed vigour.
Launched in February, the Make Kent Quicker Campaign was cabinet member for economic development Mr Lynes' baby.
But the 52-year-old died suddenly of a heart attack earlier this month before the project had reached its conclusion.

Mr Carter has promised to pick up where his colleague left off in a bid to achieve superfast broadband speeds throughout 90 per cent of Kent and Medway by 2015.
Mr Carter said: "Far too many areas in Kent have poor or limited broadband connectivity.
"This inhibits Kent businesses and is thoroughly inconvenient to residents in these areas."
The council has received £10 million in Government funding to improve the current network.
It has promised to match this with £10 million of its own cash.
A further £23 million will be needed to make the project a reality. The council hopes the difference will be pumped in by the network provider that is awarded the contract.
The council has called on residents and businesses to register their interest, and so far 9,199 people have said they want it.
When Mr Lynes launched the project he said: "The greater the demand, the more broadband providers will be prepared to invest in Kent."
