Roy Bullock has failed in his bid to turn around a vote of no confidence in him as leader of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.

At a meeting last night Conservatives ratified their vote against him.

An election to find a new leader for the group is expected on January 13.

It is understood there could be as many as seven councillors throwing their hats in to the ring.

The new leader will then be voted through by full council in February. Cllr Bullock continues as council leader until then.

“Glad to see that common sense has prevailed. I hope this means that the borough can look forward to a new start in 2011 with a new and more sympathetic leader.”
