Burglars who went on Medway crime spree have been jailed
A GANG of burglars who went on a £25,000 snatching spree taking vehicles and electrical goods from homes across Medway have been jailed.
Aaron Wren, 21, of Livingstone Road, Gillingham, Aaron Harris, 21, of Canterbury Street, Gillingham and Obie Redsell, 21, of Leslie Road, Gillingham pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary.
Maidstone Crown Court was told the trio broke into homes in Chatham, Strood, Rainham and Gillingham between April 28 and May 6 to steal high value items including televisions, computers, mobile phones, games consoles, tools and cash.
They also made off with vehicles on driveways after taking the keys.
The properties targeted were in Bankside, Chatham on April 28, when an Alpha Romeo was stolen, The Platters, Rainham on May 5, when they took a Rover 45 was stolen and Junction Road, Gillingham on May 4, when they drove off with a Ford Transit van.
All the vehicles were recovered except a Ford Focus, which Harris admitted stealing from College Avenue, Gillingham.
The gang also smashed their way in to houses in Abbey Road, Strood on April 29, Wakeley Road, Rainham, on May 4 and Sandown Drive, Gillingham, on May 6.
They were arrested on May 6.
Wren was sentenced to eight months in prison, Harris was given two years and three months and Redsell was told he will serve 16 months.
Harris also asked for six further offences of burglary to be taken into consideration.
They were sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, August 19.
After the case Detective Constable Chris Weatherstone said: "Burglaries cause huge distress to the victims, so we are pleased that we have been able to successfully prosecute these three prolific offenders.
"Wren, Harris and Redsell showed absolutely no regard for peoples' property or possessions and would take whatever they could get their hands on."

“What unbelievably light sentences, especially when they will serve just under half of the term. They should be flogged and then made to do hard labour. It really is about time we outsourced our prisons to third world countries. Scum like this might think twice before going on a theiving spree again.”
