COUNCILLOR Ewen Cameron has stood down from the Conservative group and will now act as an independent.

Mr Cameron made the move after it was revealed he faces two charges of drink-driving. A party statement said: "The Conservative district councillor for Bradstowe Ward has resigned the Conservative whip following publicity surrounding a police charge."
