Trio lift the Centenary Cup

THE first silverware of the new season was up for grabs on Saturday as Canterbury Bowling Club members competed for the annual Centenary Cup.

In perfect conditions, 10 teams of three played a 21 end round robin competition and at the end of a day's bowling the undefeated winners were the team of Mervin Galvin, June Baker and Bob Anderson.

Returning to inter-club matches, an East Kent Mixed Triples League game saw Canterbury hit the road to take on Minster.

Canterbury lost by four rinks to one, with the other drawn.

The match ended 111-92 to Minster.

At home to New Romney, Canterbury won two and lost two rinks. However they were beaten 65-60 overall.
