FOOT patrols are not the only way Shepway's parking wardens will be targeting drivers, after several other modes of transport were rolled out this week.

Civil enforcement officers patrolling the streets and council-run car parks across the district will be getting a helping hand from a fleet of vehicles.

The 11 officers will be aided in their work by bikes, three motorbikes and three cars or vans on top of the regular foot patrols.

The outsourcing contract with NSL began on January 9 but the new modes of transport were only due to come in this week.

Ken McBrine, who owns CMC Motor Company in Christ Church Road, Folkestone, said it was just another way of targeting drivers.

The father-of-five added: "I've not heard of them using motorbikes before.

"I wouldn't want to be on two wheels if I was them – the way people feel about all this, they could find themselves involved in accidents.

"It's all about issuing tickets."

NSL spokesman Nabil Hanafi said: "CEOs within Shepway will be making use of a number of different modes of transport to help them perform their duties.

"These include bicycles, three motorcycles and three motor vehicles."
