The county league champions wasted their best chance of an equaliser when they had a second half penalty saved by impressive keeper Kevin Readings.

Faversham joint manager Justin Luchford said: "I said before the game that I would have taken a draw as it was always going to be a tough opener for us, so I am very pleased with the win."

Norton assistant manager Andy Payne said: "l thought our boys were tremendous and have now set a benchmark for the rest of the season. We will now regroup and focus on Saturday's home debut, against Beckenham."
