Town set for a big semi-final
SEVENOAKS TOWN U12 3
OLD COULSDON COLTS U12 0
Tandridge League Shield, quarter-final
TOWN deserved this impressive win in the Shield quarter-final on Sunday.
They went close to scoring several times in the first half with a Jamie Bingham effort spectacularly cleared off the line and Sam Meakin going close on several occasions.
The deadlock was broken a minute before half-time with Henry Gavan heading in a Henry Phillips corner.
Both sides came out strongly in the second half and the next goal went to Town when Joe Robinson again beat the full-back and crossed well for Meakin to turn in from close range.
James Phillips and Gavan were a commanding pair at centre-back and Joe Burden distributed well all game.
Town held the ascendancy, but the game was not over until a Meakin finish surprised the keeper with five minutes left. Failing to convert a late penalty for a Meakin hat-trick was the only blemish on a great team performance.
THE WARREN U11 1
SEVENOAKS TOWN U11 5
Tandridge League B
AN EXCELLENT team performance from Sevenoaks Town U11 saw them gain ground on the top teams in B Division.
Town dominated possession early on and were rewarded with Tommy Le Sbirel's first goal of the season. An Oliver Rodger corner was poorly cleared and Le Sbirel's 20-yard strike took a slight deflection and found the right-hand corner.
Louis Collins added a second midway through the first half with a lovely solo effort and Town looked to be cruising.
The Warren then won a penalty, which was blasted home, leaving keeper Nat Pugh with little chance. The visitors made hard work of the rest of the half, spurning chance after chance.
After the break, Town stepped up the pace.
A second Collins goal – a cheeky tap-in from two yards – increased the lead. Louis Dixon then put his name on the score sheet, his lobbed shot taking a deflection off a Warren head.
Callum Turner's introduction at half-time was a real threat to the Warren defence and he chalked up Town's fifth after a driving run into the box.
Town continued to apply pressure and found the back of the net twice more, through Harry Nicoll and Jamie Campbell, only to see their goals ruled out for tight offside decisions.
Man of the match was skipper Sander Segers.
