Town on fire in away day victory
Hamsey Rangers under 16 B: 2
Sevenoaks Town under 16 B: 9
SEVENOAKS Town got straight into their stride with good work down both wings, which led to Calvin Doyley cutting in from the left wing to slide a pass to Henry Barwick, who ran on and blasted past the Hamsey keeper.
Soon afterwards, centre-forward Luke Gifford slotted home for a 2-0 lead, which was followed up by their third score, an own-goal, which was later claimed by Timo Burbidge. Sam Partridge added a fourth before sloppy defending led to Hamsey scoring.
Calvin Doyley restored the four-goal advantage before Hamsey scored another from a free-kick.
Town led 5-2 at half-time before dominating the second half, goalkeeper Sam Shrubb having little to do as the quality defensive partnership of James Funnell and Martin Haws controlled the game from the back.
Burbidge, Calvin Doyley, Josh Read and Jonny Carpenter were creating lots of chances in the box and four goals were soon added via Burbidge (2), Jordan Bater and Partridge, his second.
Sevenoaks Town top the league by five points.
Bridon Ropes under 15: 2
Sevenoaks Town under 15: 2
TOWN's under-15 side travelled to last season's Kent Champions, Bridon Ropes, at the weekend in the second of their tough run of three games. They produced a fine technical and spirited performance.
Bridon took the lead when they were awarded a fairly soft penalty.
Town had a great chance when Bradley Ralph found George Allen, but he pulled the ball wide from about 20 yards out.
The second half started with Town still taking the game to Bridon and they only had to wait two minutes before Jordan Broome put Sam Manktelow away down the left and he put a great ball into the box for Matt Cammish, who slotted home an equaliser.
Town were now on fire and soon took the lead when Broome smashed the ball home from close range from a well-taken corner. Matt Cammish fired in a powerful free-kick, which looked a certain goal until the Bridon keeper tipped it over the crossbar. Bridon then won a free-kick about 30 yards out. The ball was struck perfectly and left keeper Barratt with no chance.
UNDER-seven teams from Tonbridge Juniors and Sevenoaks Town played each other at Tonbridge Park.
Sevenoaks Rovers lost concentration in defence against the very good and strong Tonbridge Celtic team. The tide was stemmed in the second half with the Rovers keeper performing heroics in goal, but Rovers managed only one goal.
Against Tonbridge Rangers, Rovers performed much better. Despite conceding an early goal, the team worked hard. They scored twice, but Sam Peacock took the plaudits with an excellent display of running, tackling and passing.
Sevenoaks United's squad coped much better in their first match against Tonbridge Rangers, scoring twice.
But the performance of the day came against Tonbridge Celtic, when the United midfield disrupted their strong-running opponents, none more so than the excellent McKellen.
Scorers: McKellen (2), Driver.
