Tickets up for grabs tomorrow for Dover's Olympic torch celebration
TICKETS for Dover's Olympic Torch evening celebration are up for grabs from tomorrow. The stage show will take place on Dover seafront on July 18 at 5.30pm and include music from chart-toppers Rizzle Kicks and popular Britain's Got Talent 2010 finalists Twist and Pulse. Entertainment also includes Dover's Pass The Passion song, written and performed by district schoolchildren, the Snowdown Colliery Band and sets from Vista Twisters and CJ Dance cheer squads. The evening event will have dance performances, theatre, sport and the last torchbearer of the day lighting a celebration cauldron. A spectacular firework finale will take place on the seafront at 9.45pm and is open to everyone. This show, created by Kent-based pyrotechnicians The World Famous, will combine five local choirs - singing new music by Helen Chadwick and Howard Moody – with fireworks across Dover Harbour. Tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk/SongforDover/OlympicStageShow. Anyone wanting tickets needs to register between tomorrow and June 14. Recipients will be selected via ballot, with the majority of tickets going to Dover District resident, and all applicants will be contacted by Ticketmaster between June 15-18. Tickets are free, but there will be a £2 administration per ticket. Each household can apply for up to five tickets. Applicants must be aged 18 or over and any under 16-year-olds will need to be accompanied by an adult. Gates for the show open at 2pm. Tickets can also be applied for at the Dover Gateway office in Castle Street. A Park and Ride will be operated the town centre, working on a first come first served basis. One will be at and the other will be in the Duke of York's field off the A258 at Guston. The Torch will arrive at the Prince of Wales Pier the same day at approximately 6pm and follow a route including Snargate Street, York Street, Ladywell, Maison Dieu Road, Dover Casstle, Castle Street and ends at Marine Parade. It will travel through Deal and Sandwich on July 19 from shortly before 8.30am.
