Thaw blimey in a snow wipeout
THE snow may well have come at the right time for Hythe Town but boss Scott Porter is pretty cheesed off with the white stuff.
He saw his team battle through 120 minutes of Kent Senior Cup action to beat Ebbsfleet United last Tuesday and you'd have thought a Saturday off due to the snow would have been welcomed by all at Reachfields.

But manager Porter – who was seen building a snowman at Saga's home game on Saturday afternoon – insists he'd much rather have played.
Hythe haven't lost since the Boxing Day bashing at the hands of Folkestone and the 10-point gap to the Ryman 1 South play-off places is certainly surmountable with 14 games to go.
Porter said: "We wanted to keep on playing after beating Ebbsfleet United in extra-time – it's important to keep the momentum up.
"We've been in top form and the snow has unsettled us and disrupted us a little.
"It's meant we haven't been able to train on Tuesday while tonight's (Thursday) session is in doubt too. We'll have to play it by ear and see what we can do.
"I've told the lads to keep going in the gym so they maintain their sharpness and we've got an honest bunch here. I know they'll keep putting the work in.
"The problem with the snow is you can't even go road-running so the gym work is important.
"All the lads want to do at the moment is play as they're absolutely firing."
Hythe welcome Sittingbourne to Reachfields on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) and they'll be crossing their fingers the snow clears.
Sittingbourne started the season well but they've fallen under rookie manager Joe Dowley and they're just three places off the drop-zone. That's the lowest they've been this season but Porter, who guided his team to a 2-1 win at their place, is taking nothing for granted.
He said: "The mood in the camp is really high and we're full of confidence. The togetherness is great and the boys are absolutely buzzing.
"It's another Kent derby and, the Folkestone game apart, we've had a good record in them, especially at home.
"They're a decent side, a young team, and I've said all along there are no easy games in this league.
"We want to make it eight games unbeaten and there's no reason why we can't do that. The whole squad are on a high because our season is coming towards the end and everything is very much still alive.
"We're all looking forward to the Dover game and we're still in the hunt for the play-offs too.
"We're fighting on two fronts and it's testament to the players."
Dave Cook will serve the first game of his four-match ban against the Brickies while Kieran Byrne is serving his one-match suspension for a red card against Ebbsfleet.
They were due to play Walton & Hersham on Saturday but that's been rearranged for Thursday, February 28.
