Tesco Express expected to open at former Ashford stationers store
A TESCO Express store is expected to open on the site of the former Sussex Stationers in Ashford High Street.
The supermarket giant, which recently bought the site after Sussex Stationers stopped trading, has applied to Ashford Borough Council (ABC) for permission to alter signage at the property.
It also wants to put in new sliding entrance doors, glazed side door in Taylor's Passage with a security entrance and install a satellite dish.
Planning permission is not required to operate the store as the site already has this use.

A design and access statement submitted to ABC by agents CgMs Consulting says: "The proposed timber entrance door to the retained shop front is considered to improve the appearance of the building and enhance the overall street scene.
"The design is compatible with other shop fronts in the surrounding locality and forms an integral part of the overall frontage having regard in particular to the style, materials and proportions of the building."
A decision is expected to be made by July 20.
