Tempting tastebuds of tourists with a special delicacy
A TEMPTING treat which would appeal to tourists' tastebuds may form part of the plans to boost visitor numbers to Edenbridge.
The Saxon Drovers' sausage, created by Edenbridge and Four Elms butchers Allman, was mentioned as a local product to plug during the festival.
While laying out her plans for the festivities during this month's tourism development meeting, organiser Jill Lynch thought the festival could have a theme.
"A suggestion has been made of a theme as food, which I think will be lovely and hopefully we can get people like Westerham Brewery involved and all the local people that produce food," she said.
It was then that the Saxon Drover sausage was mentioned as a product which could be tied in to the festival plans for 2011 and beyond.
The speciality snack was touted during a similar meeting in 2004 as a product which could boost visitor numbers to the town.
Mike Downing, then town council clerk, said: "We want to have a range of produce that people will come to Edenbridge to buy. We have the start of that with the sausage, which I know is something unique."
