Teenaged bank robber hits Lloyds TSB in Sheerness High Street
A ROBBER escaped with thousands of pounds in cash from a bank after a raid in front of shoppers.
CCTV images from Lloyds TSB captured the bold thief who took a bag full of cash while people on the busy High Street in Sheerness carried on unaware on a bustling Friday lunchtime.
The man pushed a female cashier who was taking the cash delivery from a Securicor official.
He pounced just before 1pm on Friday, grabbing the bag, which contained thousands of pounds.
The robber ran out of the back of the branch towards Trinity Road. Police could not confirm exactly how much was taken.
A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, saw the man and an accomplice while she was walking from Trinity Road to the High Street to buy lunch. She said: "I was walking through the pigeon park and the Iceland car park and I noticed two men were running towards me with a grey bag. They had hats on and tracksuit bottoms. They were really young, probably 18 or 20.
"They told me to move out of their way, so I did."
It is believed the pair used an old black BMW as a getaway vehicle.
Three police patrol cars were sent to the High Street.
Police are searching for a 5ft 2in tall white man in his late teens. He was described as shaven-headed and slim and wore dark jeans, a grey hoodie and a blue beanie hat. His accomplice was also white and in his late teens. He was described as scruffy-looking and wore a brown bobble hat.
The search is still on for the pair and no arrests have been made.
Lloyds TSB was approached for a statement, but declined to comment.
