Swimmer's talk on life in the fast lane
ST AUGUSTINE'S primary pupils were inspired by an Olympic swimmer as part of a series of talks on motivation and determination last week.
Chris Cook gave an assembly and held workshops at the school last Thursday.
Deputy head Toni Deacon said: "The children absolutely loved it – and the staff did too.
"He showed them his medals and was talking about how, if he'd not had the determination and discipline he had, he'd never have won them."
Mr Cook won two golds at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 and represented Great Britain at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, as well as winning medals at European and World Championships.
Ms Deacon said: "His message was all about believing in yourself and positive thinking. The children were really motivated and enthused by it, it was great."
