A man was killed by a train when he put his head on a railway line.

Colin Coulstock, 66, of Silwood Close, Sherwood, was found at the side of the railway track under the Edenbridge tunnel on November 27 last year, an inquest at Tunbridge Wells Coroners' Court heard.

There was a suicide note in his pocket.

Mr Coulstock, who was unemployed at the time, had a suicidal history and was due to be reviewed at St James Medical Centre the day after his death.

He was taking anti-depressants, but having spent time before his death with friend Glenda Hutchison, he seemed stable, the inquest was told.

Coroner Roger Hatch recorded a verdict of suicide, while the balance of his mind was disturbed.
