Stoppage time Jackson goal secures three precious points
Gillingham 1 Bristol Rovers 0
SIMEON Jackson came off the bench to secure a crucial Gills victory in the third and last minute of stoppage time at the krbs Priestfield Stadium.
On an afternoon when neither side looked capable of hitting a cow's backside with a banjo - between them they managed just three shots on target - the game looked like drifting towards a goalless draw.
In the end Jackson stepped inside a Bristol defender and smacked a low shot beyond goalkeeper Rhys Evans' reach to spark of massive celebrations by the players as he raced to the home dugout.
Manager Mark Stimson, who started with loan pair Chris Dickson and Rene Howe up front, probably finished with his most potent line-up as Andy Barcham came on as a sub, too, and caused panic on the right side of Rovers defence.
Jackson emerged the hero, however, his 15th goal of the season coming some five minutes after he had hit a post. His effort lifted Gills up to 16th in the League 1 table, although it should be noted that only two points separate them from third-bottom Brighton.
