Snow causes chaos for schools and commuters

TWO schools closed and commuters faced chaos after snowfall across Medway overnight.

Delce Junior School, in Rochester and Kingfisher Primary, in Chatham, were both forced to shut due to the weather and St Michael's Primary, also in Chatham opened this morning but expected children to be sent home at 1.30pm.

Train passengers endured a reduce service after rail chiefs followed Met Office warnings of heavy snow.

Cannon Street passengers were worst affected with services severely disrupted.

Train operator Southeastern said it would monitor the situation throughout the day.

Arriva bus services were running normally and all major routes were passable with care.

More snow showers are expected in Medway this afternoon.
