Skate park for Rainham park?
A SKATE park and BMX track is set to be built at Cozenton Park with a £178,000 Lotto grant.
The project, which is expected to be completed by May 2010, will involve consultation with teenagers to ensure it is built to meet their needs.
The first meeting to discuss the plans will take place on Tuesday, January 13 at 7.30pm at the Millennium Centre in Rainham where staff from Medway Council and environmental charity Groundwork Kent & Medway will be on hand with details.
Kim Price, Groundwork's landscape architect said "We look forward to working with the community during the planning and design stages of the project".

“i think its a great idea what they are doing especially considering they are working with teenagers to make sure they build somewhere that will be usefull and not a waste of money, BUT at the same time how are guys from other areas of medway supposed to get there... not everyone has the money to spend on trains and buses just to have somewhere to have fun... yes its a great idea but building one isnt enough i think they need to look into using some of the money to help build one in another town... or to help the guys in gillingham restore what was once a skatepark at the black lion, what with most of it still being there it wont cost anywhere near as much to help restore that as it would to build a new one and u know there are a lot of people that would be up for helping! again more money saved... plus its something these guys are really passionate about and wanna bring back something that should never have been destroyed!”

“Yet again the council will waste more money when they could just dig up the park thats underground by black lion and repair it. It would save alot of money and would be 10x better then a skatepark they would buil as they have no idea what they are doing.”

“Whens the next meeting? would like to share my views on the designs as i have been skating for 9years and would like to see the park be designed to cater for the young kids but keep it big enough to entertain us veterans lol thanks”

“What a great idea, its about time that the older kids are going to be catered for, I have seen the new park in Forge Lane, we in Rainham should have something along the same lines.”
