Sevenoaks cannot wait to mix it with the big boys
SEVENOAKS will go face to face with Olympic stars such as Ashley Jackson, Glenn Kirkham and Richard Mantell at the second weekend of the Super Sixes League in Loughborough.
Oaks' men were certainly not overawed before Christmas, winning their first game and only being narrowly beaten in two others. There was one disaster against Canterbury, but that, in part, could be put down to injury and illness.

However, this weekend is a completely different kettle of fish. Oaks face reigning indoor champions East Grinstead, Beeston and outdoor Premier League sides Reading and Bowdon. If they manage to get another win, their indoor campaign will surely be deemed a success.
"I cannot over emphasise that we are playing against Olympians – the very, very best players in this country and some of the best in the world if you look at the likes of Ashley Jackson," indoor manager Pete Barker said.
"It's going to be very, very difficult, but we have got here and are going to enjoy it.
"The thing is, after that first weekend, we know that if we have no injuries and no illness, that we can compete. Whether that will translate into a victory or not, remains to be seen, but we are certainly going to enjoy ourselves."
Oaks have been working off their Christmas excess this week with a couple of friendlies against Holcombe and Old Loughtonians. Defender Grant Sykes comes into the squad as a replacement for the unavailable Rob Hemmingway.
"We are top heavy with defenders," Barker admitted. "Looking at the first week we probably need someone who can score goals. But we did defend well, other than the one aberration when it all went to pot. We are looking at it positively – morale is very good. We just have to be realistic."
Sevenoaks ladies are also in action this weekend, their first of the round of national indoor games. They are playing up in Birmingham and have a great chance of securing promotion to the Premier Division.
