Two drug dealers living in the Sevenoaks area were among four who have been jailed for a total of 25 years following a four month undercover operation.

Mark Burrell, aged 51, his son Daniel Burrell, aged 22 and friends Richard Hampson, aged 31 and Billy Smith, aged 29, all recently appeared for sentencing at Maidstone Crown Court after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine between October 2011 and January 2012.

Mark Burrell, of Sylvestres, Riverhead, Sevenoaks; Daniel Burrell, of Ferndown, Meopham, Billy Smith of Watercress Close, Sevenoaks, and Richard Hampson of Guildford Road, Tunbridge Wells were arrested on 1 February.

The action was the culmination of a four month undercover operation in the West Kent area by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate during which the Burrells offered to supply cocaine to undercover officers via associate Hampson.

Hampson supplied cocaine on two occasions totalling five-and-a-half ounces with a purity in excess of 70%. The Burrells then made further arrangements for Smith to supply cocaine - an ounce at 100% and then a kilogram at 97% purity.

Mark Burrell was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment, Daniel Burrell to five years and Hampson and Smith to six years each.

Detective Inspector Eddie Fox from the Serious Crime Directorate said: "This was a challenging investigation during which we were able to get to the heart of this criminal group responsible for supplying large quantities of drugs across the West Kent area.

"The sentences today reflect the seriousness of the crimes committed and the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate will continue to take action to identify and target such dealers, disrupting their activity and bringing them to justice."
