IN THE mid-weekers' monthly medal competition at Whitstable and Seasalter Golf Club the outstanding game was the grouping of acting captain Trevor Kelly (h20) and current trophy holder , John Aldridge (h13) who took on brothers Ted and Roger Backhouse (h22) in the captain's challenge.

The Backhouse brothers were in commanding form and won the game six and four.

The leading lady was again Di West (h27).

Birdie Prizes went to Ted Backhouse (h14), Trevor Kelly, Neal Hazel (h22) and Rod Whitehead (h11).

Ted Backhouse also won the whisky sweep.

Competition sweep winners were Mike Kelleher (h19), Bob Ireland (h17) and Ted Backhouse.

The main competition winner was Backhouse whose net 57 was well ahead of second placed Albert Adams, 61 points, with Roger Bryan in third, 62.

Ted Backhouse told the appreciative field that it was the first time he had a gross score less than his age!

The final twist in a memorable day was that the trophy that Ted won was called the Ted Backhouse rose bowl, donated by the man himself some years ago.

THE club's Junior section played their monthly medal event under overcast skies and the threat of thunder.

Playing a Stableford over 18 holes, Ryan Kennett and John Aldridge played out a very close contest with Kennett coming out on top by just one point.

He scored 42 points. Third with 35 points was Billy Bills.

New club members are welcome.

SITTINGBOURNE Golf Club was the venue as the coveted Sundridge Park Trophy was competed for.

Past Seasalter captain John Wegner was the overall winner, the only man from the club to have won the trophy since its inception in 1968.

A MIXED invitation event at Whitstable and Seasalter attracted a field of 22 couples.

The competition was a Pinehurst Greensomes Stableford which produced some excellent scores involving many countbacks.

In first place with 45 points were Jack Dale, a Seasalter junior with an eight handicap, and his partner Carol Whittaker, a Faversham club member.

They were closely followed by Rodney Wood and Chris Dunlop, also with 45 points, while in third were Penny Perkins and Mick Dunlop with another good score, 44 points.

The first nine was won by Fran Price and Malcolm Neesham with 22 points and the back nine by Lynn Whitehead and Barry Broadbent with 23.

Unfortunate losers on the day were Rob Tucker and Debbie Murray who lost out on every countback, although they also had 44 points overall and 22 points on the first nine.

THE Bunty Love par competition played at Chestfield Golf Club was won by Jenny Wilson (h13) with a score of plus two.

Second was Yvonne Philpott (h36) and third was Annette Stringer (h20), both with level scores.

HERNE Bay's Odds and Ends president's team took on the captain's team in eight groups of four ball golf.

The skipper's team secured a resounding five to three win.
