Roadrunners pound streets in 10k contest
THANET Roadrunners were in good form at the annual Bailey's Nissan Whitstable 10k road race.
More than 600 runners turned out in the spring sunshine for the race on Bank Holiday Monday, organised by Canterbury Harriers Athletics Club.
The course started at Tankerton Slopes and went out to Hampton Pier at Herne Bay. The terrain was mainly flat, with the second half of the race going along the promenade by the beach huts.
Jason Cherriman was the first athlete across the line in the 14th annual race. The runner, who does not have a club, finished the 10km course in 32 minutes 21 seconds. He was followed home by Spencer Hempsted, of Ilford AC, and Martin Potter, from London Heathside.
