Recruitment drive for Thanet Earth
HUNDREDS of people have applied for jobs at Thanet Earth the futuristic farming project at Monkton.
Some 217 jobseekers of all ages were put through their paces in a series of interviews held by Thanet Earth with the Job Centre Plus in Margate.
In the same week, Kent Staff, which supplies temporary staff in the south east, opened a dedicated office in Belview Road, Ramsgate where they saw more than 100 applications for work.
Thanet Earth boss Steve McVickers was at the job centre with senior staff doing his bit for the recruitment drive.
He said: “We wrote to 350 people who expressed an interest in working for Thanet Earth and 217 are coming for interviews. We are recruiting for a bank of jobs that don’t really require any work experience. We have prepared a basic maths test, a code recognition test and a colour blind test.”
Recruitment consultant Marta Kozlowska could not believe her eyes when she turned up for work at the new Kent Staff office in Ramsgate to see an orderly queue outside the door.
She said: “There was a queue of 30 to 40 people waiting for us to open. Over the two days we had about 110 applications for work, 95 per cent of which were English, at Thanet Earth.
